Data Sources and Methodology

This page explains where the information on TNEA Colleges comes from, how cutoff summaries are prepared and how the College Predictor produces its results.

Official data sources

College, branch, cutoff and allotment information is prepared from publicly available publications and portals associated with Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions and the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu.

2026 college and branch verification

College and branch combinations for 2026 were verified against the official TNEA General Academic Vacancy Position After Round 1 publication. The verified snapshot contains 3,468 college-branch combinations across 422 colleges and 116 branch codes.

Because this document records vacancies after Round 1, the presence of a college-branch combination confirms that it participated in the 2026 counselling data covered by the publication. Its absence does not necessarily mean that the course was not offered; it may have had no remaining vacancy or may not have appeared in that particular publication.

The main college and branch directory may also retain active colleges and courses supported by historical or other verified records, even when they do not appear in this 2026 vacancy snapshot.

2025 onward allotment records

From 2025 onward, General Academic information is based on the published provisional allotment lists for counselling Rounds 1, 2 and 3. Records are organized using the published college code, branch code, aggregate mark, general rank, allotted community and counselling round.

How cutoff summaries are calculated

For a selected college, branch, community and round, opening and closing values are derived from the highest and lowest marks and corresponding general ranks found in the matching allotment records. Rank suffixes published by TNEA are preserved when available.

The allotted count shown in a result is the number of matching allotment records in the available source data. It is not the sanctioned seat intake of the college or branch.

Historical cutoff data

Historical cutoff information is presented from the corresponding official published cutoff data for each admission year. Because publication formats and counselling conditions can change between years, comparisons should be treated as historical guidance rather than a guarantee of future results.

College Predictor methodology

The College Predictor compares the mark or rank entered by the user with available historical closing values after applying the selected community, branch and other preferences. Results indicate possible matches based on past data only.

Predictor results do not represent an official allotment, admission offer or guarantee. Actual outcomes depend on the current year's rank list, seat availability, reservation rules, choice order, counselling round and candidate decisions.

Accuracy and corrections

We take reasonable care when processing and presenting the source information. However, official publications remain authoritative. Students should verify important admission decisions using the latest official TNEA documents and counselling portal.
