The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026 is the centralized online process for admission to undergraduate (B.E. / B.Tech) courses in over 400 engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. Conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Admission is strictly merit-based, using normalized Class 12 marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics; there is no separate entrance exam

The official schedule for 2026 is expected to follow these timelines:

  • Application Release: First or second week of May 2026.
  • Submission Deadline: First week of June 2026.
  • Rank List Publication: Expected by the second week of July 2026.
  • Counselling Period: Tentatively scheduled for July – August 2026.

TNEA 2026 – Admission Process

Admission Steps

  1. Online Registration: Create an account on the official TNEA portal.
  2. Document Upload: Scanned copies of 10th and 12th mark sheets, transfer certificate, community certificate, and nativity certificate (if applicable) must be uploaded.
  3. Random Number Generation: A unique 10-digit number is assigned for tie-breaking.
  4. Verification: Original certificates are verified online at TNEA Facilitation Centres (TFCs).
  5. Rank List: Merit rank is calculated out of 200 marks (Maths: 100, Physics: 50, Chemistry: 50).
  6. Online Counselling: Candidates participate in multiple rounds of choice filling and seat allotment based on their rank.

Registration Fees

  • General Category (OC, BC, BCM, MBC & DNC): ₹500.
  • Reserved Category (SC, SCA, ST): ₹250.
